Employees who are caring for both their aging parents or relative and their own children are considered part of the “Sandwich Generation.” This can be both challenging and rewarding, and sometimes extra assistance is needed.   • Area Agencies on Aging Counties Served/Phone Numbers (michigan.gov) serves older Michiganders 60+ by providing assistance and access to services that will help them with chores, healthcare, taking care of their home, legal issues, Medicare questions, respite care, finding jobs, providing transportation, and Meals on Wheels. Every county in Michigan has an Area Agency on Aging office.
  • Adult Services (michigan.gov) mission is to provide statewide leadership, direction, and resources to support Michigan's aging, adult services, and disability networks, with the aim of helping residents live with dignity and purpose.
  • The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is a membership organization that empowers people to choose how they live as they age. It offers a variety of helpful articles, benefits and connection tools for senior adults.
  • The Medicare website provides information on Medicare billing, long-term care, finding a doctor, staying healthy, details on what Medicare covers, and comparing home health agencies and nursing homes where you live.
  • The National Alliance for Caregiving offers a variety of materials to support family caregivers, ranging from booklets and tip sheets to webcasts and conference materials.
