April 5 -11, 2025: Week of the Young Child

WHEREAS, the Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children, in conjunction with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is celebrating the Week of the Young Child on April 5 – 11, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, these organizations work to improve equal access to high-quality, affordable child care and other early learning supports; and,
WHEREAS, early childhood professionals work with or on behalf of children and their families to make a difference in our communities, and the work of these professionals deserves appropriate compensation, support, and recognition; and,
WHEREAS, public policies that support early learning and development are crucial to their future and our long-term economic strength; and,
WHEREAS, expanding early childhood learning and improving early literacy are essential components of the state’s strategic education plan; and,
WHEREAS, early learning professionals play a crucial role in addressing mental health issues and improving overall well-being; and,
WHEREAS, the future of our great state depends on the success of our children today;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 5 – 11, 2025 as Week of the Young Child in Michigan.
