Background
Production Rubber Products (PRP), located at 153 Commercial Street in Paw Paw, is a former rubber product manufacturing facility which operated from the 1950s until 2009. As part of PRP's manufacturing processes a degreaser was utilized to degrease parts.
PFAS were detected on the adjacent facility, Paw Paw Plating. In an effort to use existing wells to delineate the extent of PFAS contamination in groundwater at Paw Paw Plating, and due to the possibility of PFAS having been used in the manufacturing/degreasing processes at PRP, EGLE sampled for PFAS in existing groundwater monitoring wells at the PRP's facility.
Groundwater flow direction at the site is generally to the west, towards the South Branch of the Paw Paw River. There are no drinking water wells in the vicinity, so the primary receptor is the Paw Paw River. Groundwater is known to vent to the river.
