Background
RACER Trust Pontiac Centerpoint Campus (PCC) Validation, located at 1 Concourse Drive, is part of the RCRA Hazardous Waste Cleanup Program, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) serving as the lead agency and Michigan EGLE as the support agency. The EPA identified potential for PFAS impacts at the site based on the site history of manufacturing, including metal plating. Sampling of groundwater monitoring wells conducted by the EPA in July 2024 identified PFAS at concentrations above the Michigan groundwater criteria. The highest results were 300 ppt PFOS (compared to 16 ppt), 65 ppt PFOA (compared to 8 ppt), 110 ppt PFHxS (compared to 51 ppt), and 16 ppt PFNA (compared to 6 ppt). Groundwater flow is to the northwest. The nearest surface water bodies are the Clinton River and Crystal Lake, located approximately a half mile west (downgradient) of the site.

Anticipated activities
The EPA and RACER Trust are evaluating next steps, which will potentially include additional sampling to delineate the extent of the impact and additional groundwater monitoring.
