This property is located on a 0.69-acre parcel at 900 16th Street. The site was first occupied by Folstad Implement Sales and Service, a dealer of International Harvester equipment, from 1941 until 1977. McGiveron Metal Shop took over operations in 1982 and Menominee Saw and Supply has occupied the property since 1987. EGLE became aware of groundwater contamination at this site due to a baseline environmental assessment (BEA), which allows a person to buy or operate at a site without being held liable for existing contamination. The BEA included results from three groundwater samples, the highest of which was 196 ppt PFOA (compared to 8 ppt), 16.9 ppt PFOS (compared to 16 ppt) and 10.3 ppt PFNA (compared to 6 ppt). Groundwater flow is presumed to be to the south/southeast. The nearest surface water body is the Menominee River, which is located approximately 425 feet to the south. Lake Michigan is 0.9 miles to the west.
