CMEAA celebrates historic election wins in the Middle Eastern American community in Southeast Michigan

The Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs is delighted to congratulate many Middle Eastern American community members from Michigan in their historic wins this election year. Specifically, this includes the landmark mayoral races in Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and Hamtramck.
Each elected official is the first Arab American and Muslim mayor to be elected in their respective city.
In the mayoral races, congratulations to:
- State Representative Abdullah Hammoud who was elected as Mayor of Dearborn.
- Bill Bazzi who was elected as Mayor of Dearborn Heights.
- Amer Ghalib who was elected as the Mayor of Hamtramck.
The Commission also congratulates the following Middle Eastern American candidates on their victories for City Council:
