Purses With a Purpose - Houghton Lake

The Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post is gathering new or gently used purses and bags filled with comfort items to benefit survivors of sexual assault. Suggested items nail clippers, ear plugs, hair brush, socks, lip balm, deodorant, tweezers, hair and foot care products, makeup, eye masks, individual sized q-tips, cotton balls, shampoo and conditioner.

Donations are being accepted through April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, at the MSP Houghton Lake Post. Additionally, there will be a donation collection event at the Walmart in Houghton Lake on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The purses stuffed with items will benefit River House to be distributed to survivors of sexual and domestic assault.
