Crime Scene Response Teams
Each MSP forensic laboratory has specially trained ISO/IEC 17025 accredited crime scene response teams (CSRT) that can respond to assist law enforcement agencies with forensic processing and collection of evidence from the crime scenes (to include vehicles). Requests for a CSRT are made through the Michigan State Police Intelligence Operations Center. A CSRT coordinator will contact the requesting agency to gather information and determine if a team will be deployed (types of crimes commonly responded to include but are not limited to homicides, mass fatality incidents, suspicious deaths, officer involved shootings and violent or serial sexual assaults). These CSRT Coordinators are also available for questions and consultation about forensic evidence and crime scenes that may necessitate a CSRT to respond.
