The MiSTRLF program provides opportunities for communities to secure low-interest loans for hazard mitigation projects that are needed to reduce or eliminate the risk posed by natural hazards. The program allows for funding hazard mitigation projects that may not meet all necessary grant requirements, the largest example of this being the required benefit cost analysis. The program can also help fund the non-federal match required in relation to any Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant program.
