Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible, the student must:

• Be admitted in an eligible Educator Preparation Program (EPP) approved by Michigan's State Board of Education.
• Be working towards teacher certification.
• Be participating full-time in a required student teaching experience by meeting both of the following parameters: 
  • Full-time enrollment in required student teaching coursework AND
  • 300 or more student contact hours while student teaching.
• Meet institution’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy.
• Not be employed by the district as a "Teacher of Record".
  • “Teacher of Record” is defined in the 2024-25 MDE Pupil Accounting Manual as one who is responsible for providing instruction, determining instructional methods for each pupil, diagnosing learning needs, assessing pupil learning, prescribing intervention strategies, and modifying lessons, reporting outcomes, and evaluating the effects of instruction and support strategies.
• Not received the MI Future Educator Student Teacher Stipend before, unless your program specifically requires more than one semester of student teaching.

• Create an account on the MiSSG Student Portal.
• 2025-26 Award Year
• Fall 2025 student teachers should apply on or after May 1, 2025.
• Spring 2026 student teachers should apply on or after November 1, 2025.
• Summer 2026 student teachers should apply on or after April 1, 2026.
• 2024-25 Application Deadline: July 15, 2025
• 2025-26 Application Deadline: July 15, 2026

• Payments are made to the institution or school district.
