Hire a certified lead professional or firm
To determine if lead is present in your home, first you must hire a certified lead inspector and a certified risk assessor. Certified inspectors use an XRF instrument to measure and identify lead. Certified risk assessors use those findings to determine if any lead found is a lead-hazard. Sometimes, the same professional holds both certifications. To hire a certified lead inspector and risk assessor, use the current listing (updated 02/20/25) below:
- List of certified lead inspectors (inspector only)
- List of certified lead inspector/risk assessors (dual certification)
Once a lead-hazard is identified, the next step is to hire certified lead abatement professionals. These professionals include lead abatement: workers, supervisors, and firms. To hire certified lead abatement professionals, use the current listing (updated 02/20/25) below:
- Lead abatement workers (cannot work without a lead abatement supervisor present)
- Lead abatement supervisors (need to be present during abatement activity)
- Lead abatement firm (need at least one (1) certified supervisor)
Disclaimer: The Lead Certification and Compliance Assurance Section (LCCA) cannot recommend or guarantee the work provided by any certified lead professional or lead abatement firm listed. LCCA does, however, hold and enforce state certified lead professionals and lead abatement firms to regulatory standards.
