Antrim
In 1840, the county was first established as Meegisee County. The county was renamed Antrim in 1843 after the county in Ireland. The first non-Native American settlement was established by Abram S. Wadsworth at Elk Rapids in 1846. Bellaire became the county seat in 1883.
There are fifteen townships in Antrim County: Banks, Central Lake, Chestonia, Custer, Echo, Elk Rapids, Forest Home, Helena, Jordan, Kearney, Mancelona, Milton, Star, Torch Lake, and Warner.
