LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) today announced the launch of the Michigan Environmental Public Health Tracking Program called MiTracking to provide information about the link between health and the environment.
Through the Michigan Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, residents have access to information and data about health conditions such as asthma, heart disease, lead exposure, and other conditions that can be impacted by the environment.
“MiTracking is an excellent tool for anyone interested in health and the environment in Michigan,” said Nick Lyon, director of MDHHS. “From parents to researchers, this web portal makes accessing reliable data simple and easy for the public.”
The MiTracking data portal can be used to accomplish the following:
By gathering existing Michigan-specific environmental and health data in one location, MiTracking makes it easy to query data and create tables, charts, and maps that can be downloaded, saved, and printed. The data provided by the MiTracking program is intended to promote greater awareness of environmental health concerns, and inform public health actions and programs.
MiTracking is administered in the Division of Environmental Health in MDHHS, and supports the overall mission of the Division which is to address the impacts of natural and manmade environmental hazards on human health.
