SERVICES PROVIDED
The Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (formerly known as the Health Risk Assessment laboratory) specializes in quality analysis of human and animal tissues and body fluids for a variety of environmental contaminants. The lab is in a secure facility, certified by CLIA and American Industrial Hygiene Association and participates in an extensive proficiency program through the CDC, CAP, AMAP, State of Wisconsin, CTQ/ QMEQAS, ELPAT. Gas chromatography with electron capture detection and mass spectrometry are employed in the analysis of biological specimens for epidemiological studies and fish monitoring for sports fish consumption advisories. The laboratory also offers analytical services for state and federally funded agencies and academic partners investigating health problems that may be related to chemical exposure.
The laboratory performs the following tests in fish tissue, serum, fatty tissue and mother's milk:
- Persistant organochlorine persticides
- PCB, both Aroclor and congener specific
- PBB
- PBDE
