Registered Weights and Measures Servicepersons or Agencies

Registration of Weights and Measures service companies and personnel is required in order for service personnel to place all manner of commercial weighing and measuring devices into service; remove official rejection tags; and return "condemned" devices to service.

If a commercial device owner needs a device repaired or replaced, or a new device installed, the service company and personnel that perform the work must be registered with the State of Michigan in order to directly place the device in service.  Otherwise, an unregistered agency is not allowed to place in service any commercial weighing or measuring device and an official inspection must take place prior to device use. 

Search the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development's Serviceperson and Agency Registration database to locate a registered agency.
