On February 1, 2008, Governor Granholm signed Executive Order 2008-02. The order reorganizes the Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS), and changes the official name to the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR). The order went into effect April 6, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. Documents posted on this website may bear either name in headings or text, before or after the effective date of the order, and are to be used interchangeably as they pertain to the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) and its predecessor organization, the Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS).
