November 2025: Career Development Month

WHEREAS, the State of Michigan recognizes the importance of career development in helping residents find and pursue fulfilling careers and in supporting the economic growth of our communities; and,

WHEREAS, we celebrate and honor the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to support career development, ensuring that Michiganders are equipped for success in an ever-evolving workforce; and,

WHEREAS, Career Development Month encourages schools, businesses, and community organizations to engage in career-focused activities such as fairs, workshops, and training sessions, equipping individuals with the tools to succeed in today’s job market; and,

WHEREAS, this month inspires proactive career exploration, facilitates valuable networking opportunities, and highlights the vital contributions of career practitioners who guide individuals toward professional growth; and,

WHEREAS, the State of Michigan offers a variety of programs that expand access to education and career training, including the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, which provides thousands in financial assistance to recent high school graduates as they earn their undergraduate degrees; Michigan Reconnect, which helps adults earn a degree or skills certificate tuition-free; and initiatives providing free community college opportunities for residents pursuing in-demand careers; and,

WHEREAS, the State of Michigan’s free, online career exploration tool, Pathfinder, is available to assist residents with identifying educational and career development opportunities throughout the state;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 2025 as Career Development Month in Michigan, and encourage all residents to participate in activities that promote career advancement and celebrate those who guide and support this important work.
