WHEREAS, there is a need for continuing nutrition education and a wide-scale effort to enhance healthy eating practices; and,

WHEREAS, during this month, we join with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Division and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as many local and regional dietetic associations statewide, to celebrate, raise awareness, and support the important role nutrition plays in our daily lives; and,

WHEREAS, this year’s theme of “Food Connects Us” highlights how food connects us to our cultures, our families, and our friends. Sharing a meal is an opportunity to learn about all that goes into it – how it was prepared, who made it, and where the ingredients were grown; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 1, 2025, as National Nutrition Month in Michigan and I encourage all citizens to join the campaign by celebrating how food connects us to our traditions and our health.
