April 2023: Occupational Therapy Month

WHEREAS, the American Occupational Therapy Association has declared the month of April 2023 to be Occupational Therapy Month; and,
WHEREAS, the occupational therapists help people “Live Life to Its Fullest” after an illness or injury; and,
WHEREAS, the 4,400 occupational therapists and 1,170 certified occupational therapy assistants in the State of Michigan have provided essential services to Michigan citizens through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond; and,
WHEREAS, the services of occupational therapists are available to citizens of Michigan through hospitals, home health agencies, community-based practices, schools, institutions of higher education, health centers, clinics, and nursing homes; and,
WHEREAS, the health and productivity of our citizens depend upon the effective use of healthcare resources, including the important services of occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 2023 as Occupational Therapy Month in Michigan and call upon all citizens to recognize the achievements and contributions of these valued health professionals.
