2025 Snowburst - Porkies Winter Carnival
A peek at last year's events:
- Costume contest – Dig out your favorite costume or vintage snow gear! Judging in front of A-frame at 3 p.m.
- Silent auction raffles – Sponsored by Friends of the Porkies.
Youth treasure hunt: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Find the hidden treasures on the east side of the hill, redeem your treasures at the Chalet.
2 people will win the grand prize of a 23/24 Season pass!
Learn to ski with Liz: 11 a.m.
Meet at the bunny hill to learn the basics of skiing.
Cardboard sled races: 1 p.m.
Meet near the A-frame to construct your sled with cardboard and duct tape.
Race age groups and prizes:
- 10 & under – prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place
- 11 & up – prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place
- Best in Show
Sponsored by: Porkies/Ontonagon Visitors Bureau.
Dinner: 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Meat or veggie lasagna – made by Syls Cafe
Includes: Breadstick, salad and cookie for $15 per plate
Live music to follow: Eric Hopper
Lantern-lit trail: 6 to 9 p.m.
Use trail across from ski hill entrance – Superior Loop. This is a one-mile loop lit by nearly 70 kerosene lanterns. Stop at the warming shelter for hot cocoa!
Grand finale: Fireworks at dark!
All programs are free unless otherwise noted; however, a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to the park.
