Large vs. Small Raffle

Large vs. Small Raffle

The kind of raffle license required is based on the value of prizes to be awarded. If a prize is donated, the value of a prize is the retail value had it been purchased. With handmade items, the donor should set the value.

A large raffle license is required when the total value of all prizes awarded through the raffle drawings will exceed $500 in a single day.

A small raffle license is required when the total value of all prizes awarded through the raffle drawings will not exceed $500 in a single day (including any raffle ticket seller incentive prize).

Consult the Raffle Guide, which is packed with rules, guidelines, and helpful tips. Additionally, inspector training meetings are available throughout the year and may be offered in your area.
