What is the ABR (Apply for Business Resources) through the Growing MI Business grant program?
The Growing Michigan Business Grant program is a program that was created to provide grants to certain businesses in Michigan that meet certain criteria.
Legislation passed by the Michigan Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer makes available up to $409 million for the Growing MI Business Grant program.

How does my business apply?An online application will be available at www.michigan.gov/abr. The application period will open Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. EST. Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on March 31, 2022. Paper applications will not be accepted. Approved applications will not be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications received on March 31, 2022 will all be reviewed similar to those received on March 1, 2022.

Can I use my Michigan Treasury Registration (TR) Number if I do not have a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)?Yes. An applicant can enter a Michigan TR number if it does not have a FEIN.

Can errors to the application be corrected after the application is submitted?Applicants will be able to request access to their submitted application to make changes. Applications will be reopened, and the applicant will be able to make corrections and resubmit. If you call or email our team after starting your application, please have your application ID number available. If our team reaches out for additional information, that information will need to be returned within five (5) business days for the review process to continue and for that business to remain in consideration for a grant award.

How will I receive notifications about my application?
Applicant will receive a "Welcome Email" upon registration and then a confirmation email after the application is submitted. Some applicants may receive a phone call after application submission if further action is needed. Once a decision regarding the award has been made, applicant will receive an email notifying them that their award has either been granted or denied.

If the business is a subsidiary of a holding company, which company should submit the application?
If the subsidiaries have separate Tax Identification Numbers (TIN), the applications must be submitted by TIN and not by the holding company.

Can an applicant rescind their submission for a Growing MI Business grant?Yes. If an applicant decides after submission of an application that it wishes to withdraw it, the applicant should call the Call Center at (866) 507-8462 or send an email to Treas-abr@michigan.gov. Once a request is made, the support team will contact the business owner to confirm desire to withdraw.
