• Abrams Genealogy Seminar Discover resources and best practices for genealogy research. Hosted by the Archives of Michigan and the Michigan Genealogical Council; fee, pre-registration required. July 12 and 13, 2013, at the Michigan Historical Center, Lansing.

• Iron Ore Heritage Trail Bike Tour Enjoy nature and history. Fee; pre-registration required. July 18, 2013, Begins and ends at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum, Negaunee. 10 a.m. start.

• Wood Shaving Days The entire family will enjoy woodwork crafts, sawmill demonstrations, 19th-century music and more. July 20 and 21, 2013, at Hartwick Pines Logging Museum, Grayling. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Civil War Era Artillery Encampment The sights and sounds of the Civil War come to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. July 26 to 28, 2013, at Fort Wilkins, Copper Harbor. 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily.

• Christmas in July Get in the holiday spirit. July 27 and 28, 2013, at Tawas Point Lighthouse, East Tawas.

• Fayette Heritage Day Come celebrate the fun side of 19th-century life. August 10, 2013, at Fayette Historic Townsite, Garden. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
