• Infection in Pet Mammals, Livestock and Pet Birds A small number of domestic and zoo animals have become infected with West Nile virus, however most of these species appear to have a relatively strong resistance.

• Protecting Your Pets While the only vaccine currently available for West Nile virus is for horses, you can take measures to protect pets against mosquito bites.

• Laboratory Testing Live and dead domestic animals suspected of having West Nile virus infection are tested at Michigan State University, Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health.

• Risk of WNV for Companion Animals (dogs and cats)

• Domestic and Zoo Animal Surveillance Maps Maps of West Nile virus testing results on pet birds, mammals and zoo animals. Maps will be updated as information becomes available.

• Domestic and Zoo Animal Testing Results (excludes horses) Results of West Nile virus testing on pet birds, mammals and zoo animals submitted to Michigan State University, Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health. Tables will be updated as information becomes available.
