About the study
The M-1 (Woodward Avenue) Corridor Plan will develop a strategic approach for future MDOT investments along the corridor. The plan limits are Woodward Avenue from Adams Avenue in downtown Detroit to the Woodward Loop in Pontiac. This plan will analyze operations and safety for all road users along the corridor, as well as assess pavement needs and future project prioritization.
Future improvements
The plan will outline future transportation improvements on the Woodward Avenue corridor that:
- Considers environmental, community, historic preservation, and economic goals throughout the transportation planning process.
- Evaluates the infrastructure, geometric, safety, and operational needs of all modes of transportation.
- Coordinates with public transit studies conducted by the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) and/or Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT).
- Establishes high-level construction cost estimates and project prioritization.
