During the 2022-2023 winter season, there were a total of 30,786 winter-weather crashes, including 59 fatal crashes. Winter weather crash data in Michigan – which is recorded between October 1 and April 30 – involve road conditions that are icy, snowy, or slushy.

Drive Slow on Ice & Snow is a statewide outreach campaign that encourages safe driving habits and urges caution while traveling on Michigan roadways during the winter months. 

While it's easy to blame the weather, every driver can take responsibility for winter driving safety by following a few simple tips. Read on to learn how you can make the roads safer for everyone this winter.
