FAQ
  Wage Detail Reports (UIA 1017)
Can I file my Wage Detail Report electronically?

Answer:

Yes! You may use our Internet service at www.michigan.gov/uia to file. Employers who file on line have two options. For employers with a small number of people and who typically report on paper, the 1017e is perfect. It is basically an on-line version of the paper 1017 form. For larger employers who file by tape, the Employer File Submission (EFS) option is best. EFS supports two file formats: (1) Wage Detail Data (276 byte records), which is the same format that magnetic tape filers have used for years; and (2) Wage Detail Data (72 byte records), which is an updated format that can be transmitted via File Transfer Protocol almost four times faster. Either way, our electronic service is safe and secure, using 128-bit encryption.
