If you are placed on a mandatory maternity leave of absence, you will not be denied unemployment benefits while on the leave as long as you remain able to work during the leave.

However, if you requested to be placed on a maternity leave of absence, you will not be considered "unemployed" during the leave and therefore will not be entitled to unemployment benefits during the leave.
