State 529 Programs Offer Tax Deduction, Tax Free Growth
State Senator Jason Allen (R-Traverse City) will join representatives from the Michigan Education Trust (MET) and the Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP) in hosting two "College Savings Seminars" this week. Unique features of Michigan’s 529 college savings plans will be discussed October 9, 2003, at the Sault Area Middle School and October 10, 2003, at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
The public and media are invited and encouraged to attend these informative seminars. Refreshments will be provided.
MET, Michigan’s prepaid college tuition program currently holds more than $917 million in trust for its 71,500 contracts purchased. MESP manages more than 94,000 accounts with total assets of more than $448 million.
