The Michigan Department of Treasury has unveiled its new Web site, adding yet another dimension to the government services and information available at Michigan.gov. The new site will continue to provide tax forms and other important Treasury-related information, and will be much more user-friendly. "Customers will be able to access what they are looking for in three clicks or less, with categories structured for a personalized approach, whether that customer is an individual taxpayer, an accountant, a parent, or a small business owner," State Treasurer Douglas B. Roberts said.
The Department of Treasury site, located at www.michigan.gov/treasury, enhances Michigan s ability to ensure a single face of government to its citizens. The new Treasury site includes many important features designed to increase citizen access to Michigan s services, including a common look-and-feel, search engine, and Quick Links as well as links to Michigan s privacy and security policies.
Also effective today, through the new Treasury Web site, Single Business Tax (SBT) filers can file the Single Business Tax Notice of No Return Required (form C-8030) forms via the Internet. This is a pilot program for selected SBT filers that will be expanded to other forms in the future. The C-8030 form notifies the Department of Treasury that a filer's adjusted gross receipts are less than $250,000 and therefore is not required to file an annual SBT return. Easy, on-line instructions are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Internet filing of the C-8030 will dramatically cut down on the more than 46,000 forms that are received each year, saving Michigan thousands of dollars in production, printing, and processing expenses.
