Governor John Engler today announced that Doug Roberts will
replace Mark Murray as state treasurer and special policy advisor.
"I am pleased to announce the return of Doug Roberts as Michigan’s state
treasurer," said Governor Engler. "His expertise and professionalism have served
Michigan well, and he will -- once again – be a welcome addition to my
Cabinet."
Roberts served as Michigan’s treasurer from 1991 to 1998. Most recently, he
served as vice president of business development for Lockheed Martin, IMS, and
from Jan. 1999 through July 2000, was vice president of best practices for that
company.
Roberts earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of
Maryland and a master’s degree and doctorate degree in economics from Michigan
State University.
Roberts will begin working at the Treasury Department next week, becoming
state treasurer effective May 1. After May 1, Murray will continue to serve the
Governor as a special advisor on education and other issues until he leaves
state government at the end of June.
