FAQ
  Collections/Delinquent Accounts
Why am I receiving billings while I am in bankruptcy?

Answer:
Billings will be mailed if any of the following are true:
  • Treasury is not aware of the bankruptcy.
  • New assessments are issued. Both an intent to assess and a final assessment must be issued before an assessment can be coded for bankruptcy.
  • The debt was not dischargeable in bankruptcy and the assessment was coded back to collectible status.
  • Actual returns were filed, assessments were corrected and a letter was issued showing the corrected amount.
