FAQ
  Individual Income Tax
I am a college student. Do I qualify for a Home Heating Credit?

Answer:

It depends on your circumstances. Students who are claimed as a dependent on another person's return do not qualify for the Home Heating Credit. However, students who are not claimed by another person may qualify. You must include support assistance that you received (if applicable) as part of your reported household income. See the MI-1040 CR-7, Home Heating Credit Claim instructions, to determine if you qualify.

Note: Students living in college and university operated housing (including dormitories, residence halls or apartments) do not qualify.
