How to Prepare for an Informal Conference

You should bring all documentation that supports your position to your informal conference. If some of these documents have not previously been supplied to the Department of Treasury (Department), please to mail a copy of the documents to the Hearing Referee at least one week before the scheduled conference at the below mailing address. Be prepared to explain your position to the Hearing Referee and present documentation to support your position.

You must notify the Hearings Division if you are delayed. If you do not appear on the date and at the time set for your informal conference and you have not notified the Hearings Division, the conference will proceed in your absence. 1996 AACS, R 205.1010

You may represent yourself in informal conference matters or you may select someone to represent you such as an attorney, CPA, tax preparer or any individual of your choice. Completing a Power of Attorney Authorization form allows you to authorize a separate individual to represent your interests to the Department.

If you need to either request a change of date for your informal conference or withdraw your request for an informal conference, you must submit a request in writing.
