The Healthcare Group of Michigan Steps Up is focusing on strategies to help healthcare professionals promote the Surgeon General's Campaign messages of moving more, eating better, and not smoking to the citizens of Michigan. Since much of the information is targeting healthcare professionals, we have posted information on the Michigan State Medical Society's (MSMS) website. One of the initiatives that the Healthcare Group is supporting is a health risk appraisal (HRA). The HRA is a scientifically valid tool that provides individuals with reports on their health risks, which are based on their answers to the HRA questions. | 2005 Michigan Steps Up Healthcare Recognition Recipients
Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, Michigan Surgeon General, recognized 13 healthcare providers and organizations on October 14, 2005 for their outstanding performance in promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. The purpose of the award program is to highlight individual practitioners, provider groups or healthcare organizations demonstrating outstanding performance related to disease prevention concepts, especially those topics targeted in the Michigan Steps Up campaign: physical activity, healthy eating, and a tobacco-free lifestyle.
