MI Steps Up is the brainchild of Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, Michigan's first surgeon general. Her goal is for every man, woman and child in Michigan to live a healthy lifestyle, no matter their age, physical ability or economic status.
Appointed to the position in February 2003 by Governor Jennifer Granholm, Dr. Wisdom leads Michigan's public health promotion and disease prevention efforts. She is also the state's advocate for community-based health.
