Introduction of New Online Format for Dealer Manual (12/23/2003)

The Dealer Manual is a great resource for dealers interested in learning more about their responsibilities as a licensee. The Bureau of Regulatory Services (BRS) has introduced an online format of the Dealer Manual to provide dealers with a convenient and timely method of accessing up-to-date information. The online manual also saves BRS significant printing and mailing costs. Therefore, Dealer Manual updates will no longer be mailed to dealers.

Dealers may access the Dealer Manual online by visiting the Secretary of State Web site at www.michigan.gov/sos and selecting the Dealer Manual by Chapter link under Services to Businesses/Automobile Dealers. The online manual is broken out by chapters, each noted by the last date it was revised. Dealers should compare the chapter dates in their manuals with the online updates to ensure they have the latest information. Chapters that need updating may be downloaded and printed from the Web site.

We recommend dealers regularly check for Dealer Manual updates online. The department's Web site also features dealer bulletins and newsletters to provide dealers with additional information and important changes in the Michigan Vehicle Code. Questions should be directed to the Bureau of Regulatory Services at (517) 373-6993.
