Helping protect Michigan's wildlife and water

Earth Day a good time to consider fundraising license
plates
With Earth Day approaching next week, Secretary of State
Terri Lynn Land reminds motorists that they can purchase a
wildlife habitat
or water quality
license plate. alt="Our Customers are #1"
"Purchasing a specialty license plate is an excellent way to recognize Earth
Day," Land said. "The funds raised from the sale of these plates help improve
wildlife habitat and water quality throughout the state of Michigan. I encourage
you to pick up a plate today."
Earth Day is Thursday, April 22.
The wildlife habitat and water quality license plates cost $35 in addition to
the annual vehicle registration fee. The special causes receive $25. When
renewing, a $10 fee is charged in addition to the annual registration fee. The
special cause receives the $10.
Specialty plates can be ordered at any Secretary of State branch or by
downloading a form from the
License Plate Store at www.Michigan.gov/sos that can be
mailed or faxed. The Department of State offers fundraising license plates for
Michigan's 15 state-supported universities and special causes including
agricultural heritage, lighthouse preservation, veterans' memorial and many
more.
These plates may also be personalized for an additional fee. The "Plate
It Your Way" Web page can help potential plate buyers determine if a
specific plate configuration is available.
