Election Officials' Accreditation Program Attention all newly elected or appointed election officials!  You are invited to register for the Election Officials' Accreditation Program. 

 

Michigan election law, MCL 168.31(k), stipulates that all newly elected and appointed county, city and township election officials must complete the accreditation process within six months prior to conducting their first election. 

 

You may choose between two sessions scheduled in the Lansing area. 

 

December 7th and 8th 2011 (Wednesday and Thursday)

OR

January 5th and 6th 2012 (Thursday and Friday)

 

Each class will be held at Delta Township, 7710 W. Saginaw Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Class space is limited and reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. After completing the online registration, a confirmation email will be sent to you in 24 - 48 hours.  Once the classes are filled, online registration will be discontinued.

 

The training program is designed to introduce new election officials to a wide variety of topics related to the administration of elections, including the following:  

  • The Structure of Michigan's Election System 
  • Voter Registration 
  • Candidate Filings and Financial Disclosure Requirements 
  • Write-In Candidates 
  • Absentee Voting Process 
  • Absent Voter Counting Boards 
  • Military and Overseas Civilian Voters 
  • Election Ballots 
  • Appointing and Training Election Inspectors 
  • Establishing Voting Precincts and Polling Places 
  • The Appointment, Rights and Duties of Election Challengers and Poll Watchers

 

Program participants will be provided with a comprehensive training manual on the administration of public elections ("Election Officials' Accreditation Study Guide").
