Public Act 495 of 2004 requires that all vehicle dealer license classifications meet applicable municipal and zoning requirements.
With each original or renewal application for a vehicle dealer license or change of address, the applicant or licensee must provide written verification from the appropriate municipal and zoning authority that the applicant or licensee's established place of business meets applicable municipal and zoning requirements. Municipal and zoning approval forms will be included with a dealer license application and must be completed by the appropriate municipal and zoning authority. Self-certification by the applicant will not be permitted.
Applicants are responsible for researching, knowing and complying with local municipal and zoning requirements. For information about these requirements, you must contact the municipal and zoning officials for the city or township in which your established place of business is located.
The Secretary of State may deny a person's application for a dealer license or suspend or revoke a license already issued, if the Secretary of State finds the applicant or licensee has not complied with applicable municipal and zoning requirements. The Secretary of State will not process an incomplete application.
