Why did I receive a notice of abandonment after my car was in an accident?

Answer:

When a vehicle is towed as a result of an accident and the owner or the owner's authorized representative fails to immediately claim it, it can legally be considered abandoned. You should contact the law enforcement agency that reported the vehicle abandoned to advise whether you intend to redeem it or whether your insurance company will be assuming ownership. You may also wish to consult your attorney.
