You are only required by law to complete a stolen vehicle check. However, since the law enforcement agency will be responsible for towing and storage fees if a court determines the vehicle was incorrectly deemed abandoned, you may wish to check that all legal requirements are met, including that the vehicle is on a single- or dual-family private property, or that the property has the appropriate notices posted as required by law.
