Should I discard old TR-52 Notices of Abandonment?

Law enforcement agencies are instructed to discontinue mailing Abandoned Vehicle Notices (TR-52) to vehicle owners and secured parties. Under the Abandoned Vehicle law, the Michigan Secretary of State sends the notices within seven days from the LEIN entry.
At the same time, the department will send a completed Bill of Sale (TR-52L) to the law enforcement agency that entered the abandoned vehicle on LEIN. If you need to dispose of the vehicle immediately (i.e., scrapped), the current stock of TR-52 forms may be used - however, the notice and petition pages are obsolete and should be destroyed. The Bill of Sale (the top copy of the old form) may continue to be used for immediate disposal of unregistered, abandoned, scrap vehicles.
