YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT THE BOARD OF STATE CANVASSERS WILL CONDUCT A HEARING ON MONDAY, AUGUST 23, 2004 AT 1:00 P.M. IN ROOM 426 OF THE STATE CAPITOL, LANSING, MICHIGAN.


Included on the Agenda will be:

  • Canvass and certification of the August 3, 2004 primary.
  • Consideration of initiative petition filed by Let Voters Decide, P.O. Box 16021, Lansing, Michigan 48901.
  • Consideration of initiative petition filed by Citizens for the Protection of Marriage, 112 E. Allegan, Suite 600, Lansing, Michigan 48933.
  • Assignment of ballot designations to statewide ballot proposals qualified to appear on the November 2, 2004 general election ballot.
  • Report on review of qualifying petitions filed with the Secretary of State for the November 2, 2004 general election.
  • Consideration of a challenge filed against a qualifying petition filed with the Secretary of State for the November 2, 2004 general election by Ralph Nader, candidate for U.S. President.
  • Acceptance of testimony on ballot wording for statewide proposals qualified to appear on the November 2, 2004 general election ballot.
  • Such other and further business as may be properly presented to the Board.

A person may address the Board on any agenda item at the end of the meeting. A person who wishes to address the Board on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed must submit a written request to the Chairperson of the Board prior to the opening of the meeting. Persons addressing the Board are allotted three minutes.
