Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at the Allendale campus of Grand Valley State University, on Aug. 30-31 to assist students with voter registration.
The facility provides all services found at any Secretary of State branch office and is handicapper accessible. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.
It will be parked near the Kirkhof Center at 1 Campus Drive. This visit is part of fall activities welcoming students to campus.
The Mobile Branch Office will remain on campus from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both days to provide all services found at any Secretary of State branch office.
"I hope everyone will make their voices heard by registering to vote," Land said. "The Mobile Branch Office is a convenient way for students to register, or to conduct other business with the Secretary of State."
Land also reminds residents to visit the online Michigan Voter Information Center, a single, comprehensive source designed for voter convenience at www.michigan.gov/vote. The site contains information on polling locations, voting systems, registration and candidates.
In September, the Mobile Branch Office will be in Battle Creek, Ravenna, Mt. Pleasant, Sault Ste. Marie, Marquette and Houghton. It has logged over 100,000 miles since it first hit the road six years ago.
Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department’s online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site will help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
