YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT THE BOARD OF STATE CANVASSERS WILL MEET ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2004 AT 10:00 A.M. IN ROOM 426 OF THE STATE CAPITOL, LANSING, MICHIGAN.


Included on the Agenda will be:

  • Establishment of deadline for challenging signatures appearing on initiative petition filed on July 5, 2004 by Let Voters Decide, P.O. Box 16021, Lansing, Michigan 48901.
  • Establishment of deadline for challenging signatures appearing on initiative petition filed on July 5, 2004 by Citizens for the Protection of Marriage, 112 E. Allegan, Suite 600, Lansing, Michigan 48933.
  • Consideration of referendum petition submitted for approval as to form by the Committee to Restore the Dove Shooting Ban, P.O. Box 81183, Lansing, Michigan 48908. (Petition would subject PA 160 of 2004 to a referendum vote at the November 7, 2006 general election. PA 160 of 2004 authorizes the establishment of the first open season for hunting mourning doves.)
  • Discussion of procedures for the adoption of ballot language for statewide ballot proposals which qualify for placement on the November 2, 2004 general election ballot.
  • Such other and further business as may be properly presented to the Board.

A person may address the Board on any agenda item at the end of the meeting. A person who wishes to address the Board on an agenda item at the time the item is being discussed must submit a written request to the Chairperson of the Board prior to the opening of the meeting. Persons addressing the Board are allotted three minutes.
