Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at the U.P. State Fair in Escanaba on Aug.11 - 17 to serve area customers.

The facility provides all services found at any Secretary of State branch office and is handicapper accessible. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.

Hours are Aug. 11 from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.; Aug. 12 – 16 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Aug. 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Making the Department of State more convenient and accessible is the foundation of my agenda," Land said. "The Mobile Branch Office is an excellent tool that lets us reach out to all corners of Michigan."

Following its visit to Escanaba, the Mobile Branch Office will travel to the State Fair in Detroit. It has logged more than 95,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly six years ago.

Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check the department Web site at www.michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site also helps customers determine fees and requirements before they go to an office.
