In keeping with her commitment to visit all Secretary of State branch offices, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land visited Ferndale, Detroit Livernois, Greenfield and the 7 Mile/Evergreen branch offices today to meet with employees and the public.
"I want to make it even more convenient for people to do business with the Department of State," Secretary Land said. "These visits help me identify what is working well and what improvements are still needed in our branch offices."
"Our primary challenge as a department will be maintaining core services while the state manages through difficult financial times. The high caliber of the staff in the branch offices is encouraging. All of the offices that I have visited have dedicated and talented individuals committed to providing good customer service."
During her visit, Secretary Land touched on plans to achieve improved customer service in part through advancements in technology and extended branch office hours. "Technology is rapidly transforming the way in which citizens can do business in Michigan. Moving more of Department of State’s services online is a cost effective way to deliver services that is also convenient to our customers. I am also exploring extending branch office hours through the use of employee flex time."
Last year, the Ferndale branch office processed nearly 122,000 transactions, the Detroit Livernois branch processed just under 80,000 transactions, while the Greenfield branch office processed more than 90,000 transactions and the 7 Mile/Evergreen branch office processed more than 116,000 transactions.
Secretary Land visited the Ferndale branch office, 261 E. 9 Mile Road, from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.; the Detroit Livernois branch office, 18409 Livernois, from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.; the Greenfield branch office, 13555 Greenfield, from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.; and the 7 Mile/Greenfield branch office, 20210 W. 7 Mile Road, from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
