In keeping with her commitment to visit all Secretary of State branch offices within a year, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land visited the Big Rapids, Remus, Greenville and Sparta branch offices today to meet with employees and the public.
“Providing good customer service is one of my top priorities,” Secretary Land said. “Speaking with customers in branch offices offers a unique opportunity to learn how we can improve the services we provide. I also want them to know that their tax dollars are working for them.”
“All of the offices I have visited have dedicated and talented staff. I value their input. They are on the front lines and really know the best ways to improve our operation.”
During her visit, Secretary Land touched on plans to achieve improved customer service in part through advancements in technology and extended branch office hours. “Technology is rapidly transforming the way in which citizens can do business in Michigan. Moving more of Department of State’s services online is a cost effective way to deliver services that is also convenient to our customers. I am also exploring extending branch office hours through the use of employee flex time.”
Secretary Land added that the Big Rapids branch office connects to the community through its memorabilia reflecting Ferris State University. Last year, the Big Rapids branch processed almost 84,000 transactions, the Remus branch processed nearly 34,000, while the Greenville branch processed just under 90,000 and finally the Sparta branch processed approximately 123,000 transactions.
Secretary Land visited the Big Rapids branch office, 206 N. Michigan Avenue, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; the Remus branch office, 446 S. Sheridan, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; the Greenville branch office, 300 S. Greenville West Drive, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and the Sparta branch office, 534 S. State St., from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
