Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Highland Park Secretary of State Office, 14301 Woodward Ave., will reopen for business at 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 22.
The office had been closed for several months due to water damage from a broken fire sprinkler system in the mall.
"I am pleased that the Highland Park office is once again serving area residents," Land said. "This was an unfortunate incident, but everyone has worked together to bring this office back online as quickly as possible."
Because of the water damage, new drywall, ceiling tiles and carpeting had to be installed. Workers also cleaned ductwork and replaced electrical wiring, counters, and phone and data lines.
"It's wonderful to know that our local Secretary of State office is ready to again serve the residents of this great community," said Sen. Martha Scott, who represents the area.
Hours for the Highland Park office are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In addition to the usual Secretary of State services, such as vehicle and driver's license transactions and voter registration, the office also provides written mechanic's testing.
